Born in Los Angeles, CA, and raised in Richmond, VA, Makeda Smith received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Temple University in 2013. Combining her passion for dance/performing and visual art, and years of experience in fashion retail management and merchandising, Makeda took a leap of faith to move on from Corporate America in 2018, and into the meaningful work of arts administration and social media marketing. She is currently the Marketing Manager for the Brooklyn-based, critically acclaimed dance company Urban Bush Women, the Media Manager for Johnnie Cruise Mercer/TheREDprojectNYC, and is extremely blessed and excited to have joined the Black Dance Stories family as the Director of Digital Marketing in January of 2021!
