Cortney Taylor Key

CORTNEY TAYLOR KEY is a native of Charlotte, NC. Just shy of 3 years old Miss Key started taking ballet, tap and Jazz at Miss Donna’s school of Dance. Her training expanded under the instruction of Susan Thorsland Plaza Kim Hotchner and Chandra McCloud at The Northwest School of the Performing Arts middle and high school. She graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, with an Arts with a Bachelors in Fine Arts in contemporary dance performance. While in attendance at UNCSA, Ms. Key has performed works by Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, Thang Dao Danse Theater, George Faison, Alfred Gallman, David Robertson, Juel D. Lane. Post graduation, apprenticeships with both Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and The Francesca Harper project. Later making ballet her professional focus, Cortney trained at the Dance theatre of Harlem School in the professional training program as well as STEPS on Broadway. Cortney Taylor Key has worked with several project based companies in New York City such as Konverjdans, Gleichdances, Brooklyn Ballet, and the legendary Arthur Mitchell in “ The Arthur Mitchell Project. Cortney has guested with Collage Dance Collective, Columbia City Ballet,The Arthur Mitchell Project, and #Queertheballet. Cortney resides in New York City where she is a freelance professional dancer who trains and teaches ballet to ages 4-6.
