Jacquelyn Batten (she/they) is a Bed-Stuy based movement artist with NC roots. They are currently a performer with DanceBoissiere, exploring and maintaining their own creative process through their own movement platform (soul)lection, and participating in the ballroom scene as a women’s performer in the House of Prodigy, among various other projects and pursuits. Jacquelyn’s work centers Black movement, social theory, and spirituality; exploring these themes as resources to further understand themself and the world around them, while encouraging those who view their work do the same. She hopes to expand on this work through performance, curation, movement direction, movement therapy, and dance administration.
